A rare opportunity to purchase an historic sailing vessel built by Rasmussen in Denmark in 1899. With 14 berths in spread throughout the vessel she is currently used as a sail and dive training vessel whose main purpose is to introduce people to sailing, diving and to develop practical and life skills for younger clients. Built in Marstal on the island of Aeroe in Southern Denmark her long working life has taken her from Denmark to Norway and the UK. Having sunk in Collingwood Dock in 1996 she was recovered and renovated in 2003 and went into active service again in 2004. She has been enriching lives both young and old ever since and should continue to do so for many years to come.
This vessel is available to view by appointment only. Please contact Maiden Marine on 015394 88050 to arrange an appointment.
Heavy carvel construction hull in wood throughout with traditional long keel fitted with steel keel bands. The wooden decks and coachroofs have been sheathed in GRP to provide a robust and weather-tight finish. Transom hung rudder with wheel steering. The cargo holds have been converted to accommodation providing plenty of space down below. Originally commissioned without an engine she had one fitted in the early 1900s and this has been replaced as part of the renovation.
The vessel is powered by a Scania D6 280hp inboard diesel engine driving a 2 bladed propeller. The engine is 30 years old but regularly maintained and was last serviced 2016. A bank of 8 batteries provide engine start and domestic power. These were replaced 2 years ago and are charged via the engine and a shore power connected battery charger. Inverters are fitted to provide 240V power supply at sea and there is also a 5.7KW generator on board.
Gaff ketch cutter rig with twin keel stepped solid wooden masts. Originally built with a single mast gaff rig she was converted to the ketch layout after her renovation. All standing a running rigging is in traditional 3 strand rope.

The vessel is coded for Category 2 use (up to 12 passengers plus crew operating within 40 miles of a safe haven). Moving forward from the stern there is the separate Captain's cabin with electronics and navigation station and a single berth. The galley has a stainless steel sink, with pressurised hot and cold water, propane fuelled oven with 4 burner hob and grill, microwave oven, fridge, deep freeze and a large amount of storage and counter space.

There is a flat screen TV and this area is used as a classroom when working with groups. Forward of the saloon, to starboard is a heads compartment then a single berth. To port is a bath / shower room with second heads and then a separate large single / cosy double cabin. The heads are fitted with holding tanks for use in port. Extending into the fore-peak is an area used as storage but which can also provide additional single berths. The upholstery on board was replaced 2 years ago.
