Amity is an original "Class A" Friendship Sloop built and designed by Wilbur A. Morse in 1901 in Friendship Maine. She is Sail No. 9 in the Friendship Sloop Society. Amity was initially a working lobster boat and has been sailed for recreation since the 1940s. She was completely rebuilt in 1974-5 by the Ralph Stanley yard in Southwest Harbor while owned by James Russell Wiggins, who sailed her over 50 years. Her current owners have sailed her for their own enjoyment as well as for day charters. If you are looking for one of Maine's classic boats, Amity has been well cared for over the years with her upgraded engine and sails. She is a classic seaworthy Friendship Sloop.
