These boats were designed for carvel consturction of copper riveted cedar, and with 1200 lb external lead keel. GALA has a red bottom with white topsides and deck, with varnished mahogany coamings and trim. The MBO is the second oldest one design fleet on Long Island Sound, and the are known for their good sailing characteristics. GALA has been extensively rebuilt, and is exceptionally well cared for.
GALA's restoration was completed by the well known Maine yard Rockport Marine in 2008. she had been previously rebuilt, but Rockport Marine built her new spars using Reineck hardware wherever possible, as well as all new deck hardware. Some minor structural work was also done at that time along with complete cosmetics.
