The design of the Prout Snowgoose 37 has evolved for nearly three decades. Over 400 of these boats are sailing world-wide, proof of the immense strength, seakindly design and quality of this cutter-rigged cat.
The Prout 37 is available in two different layout options, each providing three spacious and private double cabins, with a fully-serviced galley and a navigation area.
This vessel is known as the Standard Layout- With three staterooms and a forward seating area in the salon converted to a king size master berth.
The Prout 37 is at home in the warmth of the tropics. Her plethora of hatches provide a cool breeze throughout the boat. The spacious deck areas make lounging in the sun as easy as hiding from a chill breeze in the deep and secure cockpit.
Her elegant lines match her speed and agility under sail or power and ensure a dry deck in all but the worst of conditions. She has the stability that will give confidence to even the faintest of sea going hearts.
She is large enough to take a family cruising around the world, yet simple enough for the singlehander. Long-legged at sea to eat up the ocean miles, yet shallow enough to creep into the most secluded anchorage or simply to park on the beach.
Prout Catamarans was the first boat builder in the UK to receive Lloyds ISO 9002 quality standard recognition.
Prout 37 Specifications - Standard Equipment General Construction - Strength, essential in a catamaran design, is achieved by the one-piece hull and deck moldings bonded together and the bulkhead locations at strategic positions forming deep box sections, thus producing a monocoque shell system.
Hull - The hull is molded using the latest molding techniques and to minimize the risk of osmosis, gelcoat is of the isophthalic type. Incorporated in the lay-up are biaxial fibers. High-stress areas are reinforced.
Deck - The deck molding uses top quality Lloyds approved materials. Where required it is also reinforced at high-stress areas and where fittings are sited. Shroud chainplate areas are reinforced.
Bulkheads - All main bulkheads are substantially bonded with unidirectional rovings. The bulkheads are located at strategic points to give compressional and torsional strength where required. Some are of composite construction for effective weight saving.
Interior - All interior furnishings are designed to complete a honeycomb type of structure. All pieces are bonded into the hull and deck assembly in order to serve the dual purpose of function and strength.
Buoyancy - There are built-in buoyancy compartments forward in each hull and the water tanks form a double bottom system in the vessel giving buoyancy should she be holed.
Accommodation Finishes - Lacquered veneered bulkheads, composite construction furniture with vinyl deckhead and hull side linings.
Pipework and Tanks - Two baffled GRP water tanks molded into keels with a total capacity of 90 imp. gallons. Pressurized hot and cold fresh water feed to heads and galley sink and toilet wash basins.
Spars - Anodized aluminum spars with sheaves or blocks for main, genoa, spinnaker, topping lift and staysail. Masthead tricolor, anchor light, deck flood and steaming light. Spreaders with halyard eyes. Burgee eye and cleat. Two halyard cleats. Boom: long slotted mainsheet takeoff, slab reefing eyes, cheek blocks and cleats.
Engine Installation Engine Bay - Situated in the rear end of the nacelle, accessible from two engine bay hatches.
Fuel - Stainless steel fuel tank situated in the nacelle under the cockpit floor and containing approximately 17 imp. gallons. Fuel is drawn by fuel lift-pump on the engine via a filter - sedimentor. Filler is on top of the tank. Single lever control operation for throttle and gear selection. Gear override is incorporated. There is a separate engine stop control. A single lever control permits the steering of the outdrive leg.
Exhaust - Water cooled exhaust is emitted muffler and nacelle transom skin fitting.
