- RARE MODEL ON THE WEST COAST -
GOKURAKU is a prime example of what Tartans are known for: beautifully hand-crafted interiors and innovative design. Originally sailed along the east coast, once purchased by her current owner in 2007 she was trucked to California and lightly used as a daysailer on the San Francisco Bay. She is set up for shorthanded sailing with expansive accommodations to host an elegant afternoon with friends or coastal cruising with the family.

Stepping aboard GOKURAKU you’ll immediately notice that the design of the Tartan 4600’s deck layout left ample space between the lifelines and teak handrails on the cabin top to create an easy path for passengers and crew to make their way from the bow to the cockpit.
Her cockpit offers a welcoming seating area that has high backrests along with shade and shelter provided by the bimini and dodger. Its comfortable design is also enjoyable for the helmsman by locating the engine controls and gauges on the binnacle directly below the chart plotter and compass. There is also a switch located within arm’s reach of the helm that raises and lowers the bathing platform on the transom.
The electric halyard winch, Leisure Furl boom, and electric anchor windlass introduce leisure and discourage effort to the processes of crewing a yacht of this size. Two exposed push buttons on the deck just aft of the recessed anchor locker allows directional control of the windlass without requiring you to kneel down.
Lastly, the painted white carbon mast and retractable keel are two subtle features that go in line with the yacht’s purpose of achieving an impeccable synthesis of comfort and performance.
As you make your way down through the companionway your attention is immediately directed to the abundance of beautifully finished cherry wood used to construct the furniture, cabinets and bulkheads. You’ll also find that the portlights and deck hatches provide excellent lighting.
To port is the galley with a large refrigerator, freezer, considerable counter space and vast storage. To starboard is a forward facing navigation desk, at which water tank monitoring gauges and all battery switches and circuit breakers are visible.
The layout of the main salon promotes ease of access to the forward cabin by providing enough space between the settee to starboard and dinette to port while leaving enough room to comfortably lounge. This area was completely tricked out for entertainment with a new 32” LCD TV, Playstation 3, a cleverly hidden subwoofer, and volume control panel in each cabin.
In the forward stateroom you have a queen v-berth with drawers beneath and offers great storage on either side, including a large hanging locker to starboard. This cabin also has its own dedicated shower/head.
The day head is located just aft of the navigation desk. It features a large countertop area and a decent amount of space that separates the toilet from the shower.
Exiting the head through its second door will lead you aft around the engine and into the second stateroom that is also connected to the galley through a door on the port side. Its spacious queen berth and storage is identical to that offered in the forward stateroom. Both staterooms are also equipped with upgraded stereo speakers, wall mounted volume control panels, and AC/heating control panels.
With her modern entertainment electronics, temperature control systems, and the elegantly finished woodwork, life aboard this Tartan 4600 remains civilized even when being so far away from civilization. That’s what makes this boat the perfect vehicle for your next adventure.
