TIDAL WAVE is one of those boats that will be recognized wherever she goes. Designed by Phil Rhodes and built by the Minneford Yacht Yard in 1930, she has had an illustrious racing career and been featured in many books and articles.
With overnight accommodations for 4, and comfortable standing headroom the entire length of her cabin, TIDAL WAVE has been cherished by generations of families who considered her ideal for day sails, weekends, and week-long coastal cruises. She has competed successfully in many classic yacht regattas, and with her new sails and a competitive rating - promises to continue bringing home silver.
How does she sail? Boats like TIDALWAVE don't stick around for 90 years unless they perform well. She features a small trim tab on the trailing edge of the rudder, and with a fingertip adjustment, will sail all by herself for miles at a time. There's a good book called "Bound for Roque Island" written by R.J. Rubadeau aboard TIDALWAVE's sistership DOG STAR, that includes some nice descriptions of the sailing characteristics of this distinctive collection of Rhodes designs.
In 2000/2001 Tidal Wave underwent a substantial rebuild that included new frames and floor timbers, new keel, stems, and backbone timbers, bottom planking, fastenings, new plywood deck, new Yanmar diesel engine, and countless other improvements. This work was completed at Rockport Marine to extremely high standards, all while not disturbing beautiful original interior joinerwork. Photo's of the rebuild and a recent survey are available.

From the owner:
“Tidal Wave has been an absolute joy, and she turns heads in every harbor. We have been proud to be part of her 86 year old history, and hope to find a new owner that feels the same. It’s versatile sail plan allows for a fun day of racing, or a leisurely family sail with young kids in all conditions. We are only selling Tidal Wave because our family has grown to 14 grandchildren, and it is time for a larger boat.”
