~ New To The Market ~
A unique chance to own a piece of West Coast history with documented Hollywood provenance, 'Vivienne' is a classic bridge deck cruiser that has been boathouse kept for over 75 years, and in the same family for 54 years before her extensive restoration.
An exceptionally rare find, 'Vivienne' recaptures the charm and elegance of a bygone era, collectible as both a work of art and as a jewel of the famed Stephens Brothers Yard, of Stockton, California.
As one of the premier yacht builders in the United States at that time, Stephens Brothers operated from 1902 to 1987 becoming esteemed amongst vintage vessel collectors today for their elegantly designed and high quality pleasure craft with many of their original drawings and photographs on display at the Haggin Museum in Stockton, CA
'Vivienne' was built in 1930 for the famous Hollywood screenwriter, Harvey Thew, known for his Warner Brothers work "The Man from Blankley's" and "The Mad Genius" starring John Barrymore; the classic gangster film "Public Enemy" starring James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson's "Silver Dollar". Harvey went on to write for MGM and Paramount.
With over $200,000 invested in her custom restoration by her current owners, who specialize in classic yacht restoration and interiors, 'Vivienne' is now being offered at a point in her refit where her new owners can customize her interior finishes to their own tastes, fit and finish.
The current owners remain available to assist in her completion if desired, and the boat house in which 'Vivienne' is currently kept is also available for rent to a new owner.

Since purchasing 'Vivienne' in 2001, the current owners have undertaken a painstaking and meticulous refit that has been fully documented as detailed below:
In 2008 'Vivienne' underwent a full propulsion survey at the request of the current owners to determine the condition and value of her propulsion machinery during the renovation and restoration. The engines were observed during the outfitting and test running.
'Vivienne's' propulsion is provided by twin Ford 300 ci gasoline inboard engines. The main engines were completely overhauled and carefully updated and upgraded. Modernizing of the fuel systems include new Halley marine carburetors, electric fuel pumps, water separating fuel filters and aluminum fuel tanks. Upgrading of the electrical systems include high energy ignition coils, breaker-less distributors, and ignition protected twin rebuilt Delco Remy 12 volt alternators.
These six cylinder engines have a naturally aspirated air-induction system and are fresh water cooled via a dual keel heat exchanger system.
Exhaust manifolds are Sea Master & Osco cast iron; engine mounts are soft, captive marine mounts and the transmission is a fully overhauled Velvet Drive with a rigid shaft coupling and internal intermediate bronze bearings.
Shaft bearing lubrication is via grease cups and the shaft seal is a rigid stuffing box with flax packing. The shafts are 1 1/2" stainless steel supported by bronze struts with new rubber cutlass bearings.
The rebuilt engines are enclosed in an acoustically dampened, stainless steel lined engine room with all new VDO gauges at the helm.
The complete mechanical survey is available for review by prospective buyers.
