Long range bluewater cruiser in "Bristol Condition". Three major refits and upgrades in the past ten years without regard to cost have resulted in a very special vessel that is ready to explore wherever you choose.
The destroyer bow and relatvively narrow lines compared to the modern fibreglass coastal cruiser make Matthew flinders a truly remarkable boat at sea.
An effortless 11 knots cruising speed with very little pitching moment due to the fine bow and very little roll make this vessel "one of a kind" that you will not find today.
Matthew Flinders was designed by Norman R Wright & Sons in 1969 as a fast pilot vessel to service the Port of Brisbane. Designed by Mr Ron Wright, the Matthew Flinders and its sister ship John Oxley represented the most advanced design for an all weather, ocean going fast pilot vessel.
Built for the Queensland government, the design and build process was the highest quality available.
Indeed, the design of current semi displacement fast motor yachts can be traced to the unique proportions of Ron Wright's design.
After twenty years superb service to the Brisbane pilots, the Matthew Flinders and the John Oxley were replaced by a new and smaller generation of pilot vessels, also designed and built by Norman Wright & Sons.
Since its retirement from active service, the Matthew Flinders has been carefully and sympathetically converted to an elegant custom motor yacht.
