During the late ’60s and on through the mid ’80s, Ontario Yachts established a reputation as a builder of quality fiberglass production boats like the Viking 22, 28 and 33, and the Ontario 28 and 32. During these boom years Kneulman forged a successful partnership with C&C, which acted as the design team for these yachts. The C&C partnership worked on the design for Ontario Yachts, with Cuthbertson drawing the hull and Cassian modeling the interior. The Ontario 32 was conceived as a quality performance cruising boat incorporating the industry's latest design features.
Indeed, the Ontario 32 is a no no-nonsense cruising boat with respectable performance, and it remains in high demand in large part due to the fact that Ontario Yachts built these boats to very high standards and included many sought-after cruising features including, for example, dorade boxes for added ventilation, three burner stove with an oven, large chart table, a generous & beamy interior with 6′ 4″ of headroom, and a deep, protected cockpit.
This example was repowered in 2015 with a brand new Yanmar 30 hp inboard diesel and a custom fitted feathering Kiwi prop was added, giving the boat a respectable 7 kts cruise under power. Other notable features are refrigeration, a diesel heater, an on-demand hot water heater, LED lighting, and a dinghy and outboard. A great looking vessel that is ready for cruising!
