Maestro is a pretty older style cruiser with longer overhangs and a bit narrower beam than newer boats but is a really solid cruising sloop that combines performance and crew comfort.
Capable of sleeping up to 7 crew in generous berths; the V-berth forward, the convertible dinette to port, the settee and pipe berth to starboard and the quarterberth. All are sized for real people.
The head is forward to port and includes marine toilet, vanity with sink and capability of hot & cold water shower system.
The galley is port side aft in main salon and features icebox with refrigeration system, CNG stove with oven, stainless steel sink with pressurized hot & cold water and a significant number of drawers and lockers for cutlery, dishes, pans and pantry items.
The navigation station is to starboard at the forward end of the quarterberth and includes electrical panels and some navigation instruments.
On deck there is a large aft cockpit, wide side decks and cabin roof; all easy to move about on with perimeter lifelines.

Rigging and Sails

Steering: Cable and quadrant steering system with spade rudder. Rudder was increased in size by approximately 25% to specs of Newport 41 MkII version for enhanced control. Steering cables replaced in 2017.
Modifications and Notes
- Newport 41's evolved from the C&C Redline 41 which was a very successful design for C&C under the CCA rule. The Redlines were built with end-grain balsa core to reduce weight and increase stiffness. The Capital Yachts built Newport 41's were built with Airex core which reduced weight, increased stiffness and seems to have helped avoid some of the core deterioration problems suffered by some balsa cored boats.
- The rig chainplates were moved inboard approximately 4 inches to enable tighter sheeting angles. At the same time inboard genoa sheeting tracks were added. The MkII version apparently came with these changes as standard.
- The rudder was made deeper and increased in area by approximately 25% from the original design. This was to provide better control as the wind speeds increased. This was done to the MkII version of the design.
