The Sunward 48 is a bulletproof heavy duty, relatively shoal draft quality built commodious cruiser designed by one of yachting's legendary design teams, Sparkman and Stephens. Capricious has been maintained by the same loving owner for over thirty years and has been operated as a high end crewed charter vessel or many years. In recent times she has been sailed seasonally as a private vessel and in September of 2017 was damaged Hurricane Irma while she was in storage on land in the BVI. She lost her mizzen mast and sustained some other rigging damage as well as some damage to woodwork and hull. The woodwork and hull has been repaired and the mizzen mast cleared off, but the main mast will still needs some work. However, this yacht represents a fine opportunity to acquire and very well made semi-custom vessel capable of long distance sailing or an air BNB style charter situation.

Accomodations Damaged in Hurricane Irma, Capricious will require a new rig and some repairs to other aspects of the boat. She is a large volume cruising boat of very comfortable design and well worth the effort to repair and enjoy again. Capricious has a large queen size athwartship berth and an ensuite head with extra seating in the cabin and tons of storage, The galley is along the starboard side in the walk through and forward in to the main cabin The man salon seats eight comfortably and can be converted to sleep two to three more people. The forward side cabin has bunk beds and sleeps two and the V berth sleeps two. There is a second head forward to serve both cabins.
