The layout of this Formosa 68 has the master aft with queen berth with ensuite head/shower and private entry from the aft deck, a guest cabin mid-ship to port, a second starboard mid-ship cabin for crew on the starboard side of the engine space with one bunk and extra storage, a workshop and head, a forward guest cabin with a double and a single berth, and a forward area converted to a double berths in the Vee.
The salon is big with a wrap around dinette and drop leaf table.
The salon area has air conditioning.
The galley is a equipped with a 2 burner Princess propane stove/oven with a large 12V fridge/freezer.
Water is supplemented by a 400 gpd Village Tech Water Maker.
The engine is a Yanmar 240 hp diesel installed new in 2002 along with a new exhaust system.
The power is normally a 220V with 110V capacity. Besides the normal shore power, there is a Northern Lights 20 KW diesel genset, Heart inverter, and 80A battery charger. Genset shows 2800 hours. There was extensive rewiring during the 2002 retrofit.
Blue Heron is equipped with a suite of electronics including 2 x chart plotters (one at the nav station and one at the helm), 2 x independent autopilots, AIS, radar and 2 sat phones (one independent and one with a smart modem for email and files).
The helm also has a Raymarine suite of displays with a ST-60 Wind Indicator, ST-60 Wind Angle, ST-60 Tridata, and a ST-6002 Autopilot. A Horizon Matrix VHF is included.
The engine start panel is conveniently located on the pedestal as well.
The Nav station has repeaters for the ST-60 Wind and Tridata as well as the plotter and sat phones. There is also a Sony Marine Stereo. And for emergencies an EPIRB.
The rig is a classic ketch design with furling headsail on a Hood Seafurl system, a classic furling battened mainsail and in-mast furling on the mizzen. Shrouds are solid rod rigging. Two spinnakers are also included.
Control lines are lead to Lewmar winches including 6 - Lewmar 46ST, 3 - Lewmar 48ST, 2 - Lewmar 65ST hydraulic, 1 - Lewmar 43ST and 4 - Lewmar 30ST's.
Also to assist in sail control and performance there is a Navtech hydraulic back stay and vang.
The decks were refurbished and Awlgripped in 2003. The cockpit is covered with a large fixed bimini that covers the entire cockpit. The ground tackle is a 110 lb SS CQR anchor on 300 ft of chain.
