The layout of the Grand Banks 42 Europa is very simple in terms of the floor plan. With a generous salon forward of the cockpit. Galley forward to port and the lower helm midship starboard side and a side deck helm door provides easy access on deck forward. Down the companionway the side cabin with a double bunk is located to port and the head and stall shower is to starboard. Forward a few steps is the V-berth often considered the master stateroom however many owners have preferred the offset double on the port side versus the V-berth. Both staterooms are very light and airy due to the large windows and overhead Lewmar hatches. The interior of this Grand Banks is similar to those before and after it with very detailed teak joinery work finished with satin varnish, timeless elegance is evident throughout.
The Europa is a proven design at the dock or miles at sea, with excellent visibility with 360 degrees from the main salon. The overhangs of the Europa provide remarkable protection from the sun and rain. The opening side windows and side decks are kept dry and in the shade the better part of the day further preserving this timeless layout. Natural ventilation is simple with nearly every side window in the salon is openable or hatch opens including three foredeck hatches. Engine room access is located beneath the teak parquet cabin sole between the lower helm and galley.
The Grand Banks 42 has been the epitome of quality and reliance for the last 50 years and the Europa has been a rare offering from Grand Banks especially in 1987.
Locating a good candidate below $200k is nearly impossible. "Luana" is a yacht that offers those who are unwilling to sacrifice classic good looks for excellent performance and dependability.
