KNOTTY MIND has many separate living and activity areas so even a large group of people does not seem to be a crowd. The entire interior is medium wood / teak finish with light tasteful fabrics on furnishings. The yacht has outstanding accommodations with the ability to sleep 8 owners and guests: large master stateroom with centerline queen bed, forward guest stateroom has a large centerline double bed, two adults can sleep on sofabed in salon, and two in dinette convertible which can be curtained separately. The aft deck is fully enclosed with Strato-Glass and provides a spacious main deck entertainment area with wet bar and generous seating. Another great entertainment area is the cockpit which can be used for cookouts, lounging, or fishing. The easily accessible flybridge provides an additional outdoor entertainment area.
All systems are well thought out providing ease of maintenance. The vessel can be single handled. All levels are easily accessible with no ladders inside or out. Continual maintenance and upgrades including extensive refits assure the next owner the same pleasure and success the current owner has enjoyed since 1990.
Entrance is through side deck doors onto the sundeck. Sundeck offers passage up to flybridge, aft down to cockpit and swim platform, or forward to mid-deck salon. Aft stairs from salon lead to master stateroom with ensuite head and shower. Forward and down is the galley on port side and dining table on starboard side. The forward guest head is on portside; further forward is the guest stateroom. Engine access is through backside of galley stairs or from salon floor hatches.
The spacious Main Salon features an "L" shaped sofa with two ottomans that convert the area into a huge sleeping or TV watching area or a dining area as desired. The ottomans also have reversible tops that convert to a table with storage inside. The ships entertainment system is mounted in the overhead featuring a GE Large Screen Color TV, VCR, DVD, CD Player, Dual Cassette Tape Deck, and Pioneer AM / FM Stereo Receiver / Amplifier with Surround Sound and Dolby. A KVH M5 satellite antenna system supports 3 Direct TV receivers. The vessel is wired throughout with speakers for the stereo system and the salon has Surround Sound speakers for the video system. Recessed lighting; AC and DC lighting. A bench seat covering a large locker sits opposite the sofa and complete the furnishings. The Main Salon is light and airy with good visibility outside the vessel. Teak finish adds elegance to the area. A white 6 X 6 area carpet accents the teak and holly sole and is removable for easy cleaning or replacement.
On the starboardside forward, there is work area that includes countertop, engine controls, and VHF.
The galley is conveniently located forward of the salon and abeam of the dining area. This provides excellent access for buffet service, dining service or the ability to be part of the party or remain separate. Fully equipped with good maneuverability, the galley provides the ability offer bountiful food preparation. Numerous storage cabinets and generous pantry space.
The Master Stateroom is aft and has an oversized queen centerline bed with two hanging lockers and plenty of drawer and locker space. Independent AV system allows for the ability to watch the movie playing in the salon or a separate film. Reading lights, overhead lighting, mood lighting, and rheostats enable adjustments for all moods. Large ensuite head with full stand-up shower.
The Forward Stateroom has the capability of watching the salon movie or a separate film and there are speakers for the ships entertainment system. The forward stateroom has private access to the forward head and features a deck hatch with a special insert allowing either a screen, blackout or open hatch arrangement. The ensuite head has a stand-up shower with seat and glass door and can also serve as a day head with access from the salon/dinette area.
Engine room access is through the liftable galley steps or from hatches in the salon sole. The entire engine room has been redesigned for easy maintenance. The air conditioning circulating pump is located with easy access as is the dual pump freshwater pump system, which allows both engines to be freshwater flushed if desired. There is a unique oil change system which allows waste oil to be pumped into a container in the engine room or into a container on the dock. Access to all filters, service points, etc. have been modified to make maintenance easy. The engine room is protected by four bilge pumps.The engine room bilge is isolated from the rest of the vessel so any spilled fluids will not create odors in other parts of the vessel. The Engine Room has its own set of engine instruments and controls for easy maintenance.
Six tanks holding a total of 1250 gls. There are two transfer pumps (one AC and one DC) either of which enable fuel to be transfered between any tanks or circulated through a filter enabling control of vessel trim and fuel quality. Fuel can also be off loaded to another boat. The aft tank, the primary engine feed tank, has a sump where fuel, sediment, and water can be drained from the bottom. Fuel consumption is monitored by Flo Scan fuel flow gauges and totalizers. Range can be extended beyond 1000 miles at approx 8 knots. At 8 knots, fuel consumption is 6 gallons per hour. At 7 knots, fuel burn is 5 gallons per hour. At 17 knots, well at least it can go 17 knots...
There are no ladders on the Knotty Mind and all decks and levels are accessible by easy steps making access to the flybridge simple and safe. The flybridge has seating for about ten and offers great visibility from the helm seat. A second captain's chair sits in front of the GPS and Radar to provide a navigator's station. A quickly removable lucite windscreen mounts on the forward edge of the console and weather curtains can be easily attached to the sides in foul weather. All of this ties into the Bimini top to provide a complete enclosure when needed. The entire enclosure and the Bimini top can be quickly stowed and the flybridge can be wide open if desired. This system is quick, clever and works very well. The console contains all navigation and system information. A Clarion 12 volt stereo allows the captain and flybridge guests to listen to music underway without generators running. There is ample storage under the console and on the forward bulkhead of the flybridge. Boat deck serves as a nice sundeck when tender is down.
The Aft Deck is a great entertainment area. Entry is from wing doors both port and starboard or from the salon. Access from the cockpit aft enlarges the entertainment area to include the cockpit area as well. Fully enclosed by clear Strato Glass ( which is attached in sliding panels to allow opening the area without "roll-ups", the aft deck can be utilized in all weather conditions. A built in settee opens to a large bed. Table seats 6-8 for al fresco dining. Full wetbar with generous counterspace makes for ideal buffet service.
Another great area designed for entertainment, buffet food service, lounging, or fishing/diving. With a specially designed built in BBQ grill, wetbar, and service area,and seating, the cockpit becomes another ideal area for leisurely socializing. With the cockpit design and integrated swim platform, the cockpit remains dry while underway and becomes a comfortable and stable area for lounging. The cockpit area underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2014.
Located beneath the cockpit and accessed through a heavy duty Bomar hatch or through a large hatch in the cockpit sole, the lazarette is built of solid fiberglass and remains a dry and convenient area for equipment housing and storage. The area is well lit and ventilated and is protected by 2 bilge pumps and a high water alarm (and intercom). In addition to the 12kW generator, watermaker, and fuel manifold system, there is ample space for the spare parts including spare props and 6 foot stud shafts.
