This Mason 44 is a fine example of a classic beautiful blue water sailboat with many upgrades. Her
current owner is man of many talents. To mention two of his many talents are, his an electrical
engineer and his a yacht crafter. He loves making custom wood work. No wonder that this boat
shows with pride of ownership through out and he continuously enjoying and maintaining his boat
after its original and other predecessors.

Below is a little history about this boat and the current owner wanted to share them with you.
"Original Owner and others The original owner is a very rich man and no expense was spared when he custom ordered this Mason 44. He took delivery in Dana Point Harbor and sailed down the coast to Mexico. Then they proceeded to go through the Panama Canal into the Caribbean.
From Caribbean they cruised and sailed through to Florida then crossed the Atlantic to Mediterranean sea. After spending years in Europe, he or they finally left for other places in that general area and spent many years traveling worldwide. When they were ready to get off the boat, they packed and sailed across the Atlantic sea to Florida. There he donated the boat to children charity. (Total of about 10 years +/-) They lease the boat to the second user who took it back to the Caribbean. After about three years, he brought it back to Florida. There it sat on the hard for awhile and put it up for sale. After a year or more later, it was trucked back to Dana Point. About six years ago, I found the boat in Dana Point and she was in need of some love and care but she was sound as a new boat. We fell in love with the beautiful lines and the amazing structure. Over built is an under statement. Extreme rigging strengths, good meter, good sails, and overall a beautiful yacht. We named her, "Tiger Shark". My wife and I took a lot of pride refinishing the teak interior, replaced few teak panels at the galley, etc. We went through the entire wiring system and uninstalled old wires left after updating various equipment, etc. Tiger Shark is in good shape and ready to go to the big blue ocean and travel the world again."

Starting forward is the cabin featuring offset double berth to port, small dressing seat with storage under. There are storage drawers under the berth and additional storage in shelving over; a large hanging locker is to starboard.
Aft and to port is the Head featuring manual with spray for rinsing, vanity with stainless sink, and Corian counter top. Separate large stall shower compartment and good stowage. Opposite to starboard is a hanging locker where the air condition unit is located. Storage throughout this boat is excellent!
Facing aft is the Main Salon with U shaped settee to port and straight settee to starboard. The seat back for the starboard settee can be raised to form a pilot berth. There is storage behind the seat backs and in lockers and shelves above the seat backs. All port holes and hatches has screens.
Aft of the starboard settee is the navigation station equipped with full electronics, electrical distribution panel, flip up chart table, drawers and swing out navigators’ stool. Galley is located across from the nav station.
Moving to starboard aft there are hanging lockers and shelves and to port is the Aft cabin featuring large double comfortable berth outboard with several large storage drawers underneath, a four-drawer dresser with mirror and vanity lights, lined hanging locker and bookshelf plus shelf above the berth for storage.

FRESH WATER SYSTEM
The MASON 44 is fitted with five stainless steel fresh water tanks totaling approximately 205 gallons.
HOT WATER HEATER
The MASON 44 is fitted with a dual-source hot water heater. Water is heated by means of both electricity and engine cooling water. The water heater used is a Seaward EMH 11.
THE EMERGENCY TILLER
If a failure of the steering system is experienced, the MASON 44 is engineered and fitted with an excellent emergency tiller. The tiller is stowed within the hanging locker forward on the starboard side. This boat is equipped with Windvane and manual steering system.
SPARS AND STANDING RIGGING
The MASON 44 is fitted with the finest spars and standing rigging available. Masts and booms are of extruded aluminum and painted with Impron linear polyurethane paint. This finish is extremely durable and should give years of protection to the spar.
All standing rigging is U.S. manufactured 1 X 19 stainless steel wire, and all swaging of marine eyes and turnbuckles is done on a large rotary swaging roaching to aircraft standards. All turnbuckles are of U. S. manufacture. Large safety factors are used in determining the spar section and standing rigging dimensions. The entire rig of the MASON 44 is extremely stout and should hold up in even the most extreme conditions.
MASON 44s are fitted with a Yanmar 4JH-TE-55 HP diesel engine with 1635 hours and located under the floor in the keel.
All MASON 44s are fitted with two black iron fuel tanks. These tanks total approximately 168 gallons and are undercoated and painted to prevent rust. This is a custom Mason 44 and she has two black iron fuel tanks total 160 gallons.
ENGINE COOLING AND EXHAUST SYSTEM
The Yanmar 4JH-TE-55 HP engine installed in the MASON 44 is fresh water cooled. The fresh water which circulates around the engine is cooled by raw water which is pumped through a heat exchanger and, in turn, cools the exhaust line and is expelled through the transom of the boat. The exhaust system consists of a water lift system where water and exhaust is mixed.
PROPELLER SHAFT - The MASON 44 is fitted with a 1-1/4 11 stainless steel propeller shaft.
PROPELLER - A three-bladed 18 11 X 10 11 bronze propeller is standard. The propeller is tapered and keyed to fit over the shaft. The propeller is held into position by two nuts and a cotter pit. To remove the propeller, a prop puller is necessary. This boat has a folding propeller.
MASON 44s are fitted with a 20 gallon fiberglass holding tank. This standard head is a Par #59182 head. A nice feature of this W. c. is that in lieu of rebuilding, the pump mechanism can simply be replaced as needed. This boat has a manual head with fresh water spray handle.
MASON 44s are provided with both a manual bilge pump (Kempax 50005) which is mounted on deck and a Par electric Model No. 36600-0000. This boat has 3500 gal new bilge pump.
All MASON 44s are equipped with three 12 volt 120 amp lead-acid cell batteries. This boat has dual 8 D's Charles Battery Charger 40 amp 500 SP Series and Optima House Battery (2 years old).
STOVE AND PROPANE SYSTEM
The standard MASON 44 is designed to accommodate a liquid propane gas stove and oven along with two twenty pound 4.2 gallon propane bottles. A moulded fiberglass propane locker is incorporated into the deck at the forward end of the cockpit. This propane locker is vented to the outside atmosphere and should a leak occur within the locker, it would vent overboard and would not be allowed to enter the interior of the yacht.
HULL AND DECK
The MASON 44 is designed and constructed to meet or exceed specifications set forth by the AMERICAN BUREAUOF SHIPPING and LLOYDS for fiberglass yacht construction. The hull is hand laminated with four full-length longitudinal stringers. Heavy laminated sub-floors, double bonded structural bulkheads, and interior furniture assure a rigid structure capable of withstanding a great deal of abuse.
ZINC AND GROUND SYSTEM
The MASON 44 is provided with a DC negative ground system. The negative battery terminal ties into the engine which has continuity with shaft, propeller, rudder post, thru hulls, standing rigging, spars and a zinc plate which is located on either side of the under-body aft. These zincs attach to studs which are bonded to the hull itself. Zincs are monitored by dive service; also bottom cleaning is once a month.
ELECTRIC SYSTEM AND PANEL
The standard· MASON 44 is equipped with a deluxe custom P.A.E. electrical panel and battery system. The engine starting battery and house batteries are recharged from the engine alternator of an 40 amp Charles charger. Battery conditions can be measured by a volt meter on the electrical panel. The engine starting battery and house batteries are isolated by a diode protection system so that the engine can always be started even if the house batteries are totally discharged.
