Sea Dancer, a 48’ Viking Convertible, recently delivered to Florida is seriously for sale. The 48C is one of the most sought after early Viking yachts on the market. The Plan “C” arrangement offers two L-shaped seating areas in the salon (convert to beds), midship step down galley, two spacious staterooms and two heads. Previous owner created a large fishing gear & tackle center storage closet.
The massive cockpit is carpeted (quickly folds back) to expose two indeck kill boxes. New cockpit lighting, a tackle and gear center, bait freezer and transom door complete the cockpit. Bolster cushions show light signs of wear.
Rigged to fish, the Detroit 8V92’s are said to “raise fish“. Owner purchased in Februry, brought her to Florida. During delivery Sea Dancer ran a comfortable 21-24 kts through open seas with an estimated fuel burn of 52 Gph
Health issue combined with personal concerns, owner chooses to sell immediately. Offers are encouraged

Sea Dancer, this 1989 two stateroom 2 head model was delivered in 1990. These 48's were, and for many still are, considered one of Viking's best under 50ft design. The 48's were built on a lengthed and reworked 46 Convertible hull, Viking using the extra length to create a huge, 144 square foot fishing cockpit and added working space in the engine room. Massive cockpit is required as the 48's with 8V92s have a reputation for raising fish. Transom door to starboard, 2 kill boxes in the deck, tackle centers, Rupp outriggers.
Recent delivery by new owner in Florida, with the 735hp 8V92s , the cruising speed was a fast 24 kts. Burned around 52 gph.
Like all Viking models, she’s heavily built on a low-deadrise modified-V hull with a wide beam, a shallow keel, and balsa-cored hullsides. The flybridge has seating for eight. Additional features include wide side decks, a molded pulpit, and a spacious engineroom.
Mostly original interior is clean and spacious. Furnishings clean. Minor upgrades with flat screen TVs (salon & Master stateroom), interior lighting, newer refrigerator in galley.
Owner purchased in February, with a group of friends did short runs arriving recently (April) at his home in Florida. Health issues delayed the delivery. Upon arrival owner realized his health and personal issues combined an he will not use Sea Dancer, thus she is for sale.
Walk thru Sea Dancer: Initial impression of a very spacious clean salon with furnishings clean, though style somewhat dated. Entering salon from cockpit immediately to port is an L-shaped couch (converts for sleeping) and immediately to starboard a flat screen TV over ‘fireplace’, counter and cabinetry. Forward a dinette L-shaped settee with moveable small dining table. Centerline and one-step down to galley, located on port. In the galley a recent residential (non-marine) refrigerator with freezer above, a 3 burner electric stove / oven, microwave and a lot of cabinets and drawers.
Forward centerline down one step is the hall to staterooms and head. Immediately to port a large closet previous owner designed as rod / tackle storage. (In most 48’s this is where stacked washer & dryer were). To starboard is entry to guest stateroom. Stateroom has 2 single bunks, storage and plenty of room for guests to dress. A door-opening forward is entry to the head. Sink is conveniently separated from the commode / shower space. This head also serves as general guest head with another entry from hallway. These areas are clean and ready for guests.
Forward is the master stateroom with queen centerline bed, numerous cabinets, newer flat screen TV and hanging locker. Aft port side is the very large master head with separate stand up shower.
Returning aft thru the salon is the huge cockpit. To port a sink, cutting board, tackle center with storage below, to starboard (under ladder) a bait freezer. Viking specifications say the cockpit is 144 square feet. For a 48’ boat it is huge. Previous owner placed an outdoor carpet temporarily in place, roll back to expose two large kill boxes in deck. Transom door to starboard.
Up the ladder to the covered helm area. Ladder-back chairs. Mostly new gauges. Seating for 8. Excellent 360-degree visibility. Helm electronics appear in good condition, about 10-12 years old. E120 Raymarine Radar, (open array), Northstar 952X GPS, Icom IC-M127, and old standby Furuno FCV-582 and the original Robertson AP2500 auto helm. Fully acceptable.. Cosmetically the helm area needs some TLC.
During delivery maintanince included replacement of port transmission gear cooler. Salon and cabins heaters worked great (25 degree weather a bit of a shock for Florida owner), upon arrival AC systems not fully functionaL. (Service and if needed repairs underway).
Owner purchased Sea Dancer in February following an inspection on the hard and sea trail. Boat ran well and without survey, owner purchased and took possession. With a group of friends did short runs arriving recently (April) at his home in Florida. Health issues delayed the delivery. Upon arrival owner realized his health and personal issues combined an he will not use Sea Dancer, thus she is for sale.
