"Destiny" is a sweet, capable little cruiser with gear and accommodations that invite you to go adventuring now. An efficient layout with the popular, easy-boarding walk-through transom, this a yacht ideal for a first boat or for a more experienced sailor who knows that good things can come in small packages.
With teak cabinets and woodwork, teak and holly sole, quality upholstery, and an inviting wraparound settee as its primary feature, the interior of the Hunter 28 exudes warmth and comfort. Lamps are thoughtfully placed throughout, supplementing the natural light from hatches, windows, portlights and a skylight. From fore to aft, here's the layout:
Saloon with vee-berth: The bow section's raised vee-berth can be curtained off to separate it from the main saloon. A large, clear, overhead hatch provides light, air, and safety. Just aft in the saloon, two additional berths bracket the center-line, folding-leaf table when the wrap-around cushion backs are removed. With the cushions back in place, there's plenty of room for the family or crew to gather around the table. There's stoage under the settee and on hullside shelves. To starboard, the aft end of the settee provides seating for the navigation station, which includes storage under its hinged lid.
Galley: To port aft of the settee, lies the galley. With hot and cold pressure water, a stainless steel sink, an Origo two-burner alcohol stove, a spacious ice box, plus plenty of cabinet and shelf storage, it provides a compact but efficient center for meal preparation.
Head: Opposite the galley to starboard, the fully enclosed head, with its easy maintenance surfaces, includes vanity, toilet, storage, and shower. An overhead hatch provides light and ventilation.
Aft stateroom: In this private space, there's an extra-long, double, athwartship berth with sit-up-and-read headroom, plus an opening portlght and overhead hatch. You'll find space to store your gear in a teak locker and under the berth.
Protected by a dodger, the walk-through transom cockpit provides an efficient space for sailing or entertaining. With a pedestal-mounted stainless steel wheel and engine controls, all lines led aft through stoppers, four winches -- including two #21 Barient self-tailing primaries -- chores are eased for both skipper and crew. Large, deep storage lazerettes provide gear storage. The cockpit and entire deck are encirled in safety by stainless steel pushpit with rack-mounted horseshoe buoy, bow pulpit, stanchions and life lines. A fold-down stainless steel swim ladder at the transom gives an added measure of safety and convenience. Uncluttered side decks with built-in non-skid make it easy to go forward where you'll find the anchor locker.
