This world-cruiser was designed by Lyle Hess (design#177) as a Falmouth Cutter, a slightly larger variation of the famous Bristol Channel Cutter. She was built in New Zealand by talented shipwright Chris Lowery, who subsequently sailed "Minke" around the world. While the lines and finishes are classic, the construction technique is fairly modern: strip planking w/ epoxy-saturated cedar, glassed over each side, provides a very strong, light, watertight and low maintenance structure. The teak decks are bonded not screwed . The materials used and the craftsmanship are top-notch and impressive. "Minke" has been lovingly maintained and shows hardly any wear and tear expected given its age and use. she is deemed inexcellent condition and fit for its intended service.
