Known as the Sea Otter 25 Canoe Yawl and inspired by the Clyde Canoe Club yawl but with more freeboard and sheer. Strip plank Douglas Fir overlaid with Khaya, she is beautifully built and still immaculate. 3 berths, Yanmar 10hp inboard. The owner cruised her extensively on the West coast of Scotland and found her very easy to sail single-handed.

Known as a Sea Otter 25 Canoe Yawl, the design was inspired by the Clyde Canoe Club Yawl with increased freeboard and a little more sheer. Built by David Moss and launched in 2002 for the present owner, she has been cruised extensively and proven herself as a very capable boat and incredibly easy to handle.
The quality of the original build and the current finish are second to none, she is an immaculate little yacht which will make any new owner incredibly proud.
Constructed of epoxy glued strip plank Douglas Fir overlaid with a veneer of Khaya giving a total hull thickness of 3/4".
Solid Iroko hog and keel with laminated Iroko stem and stern posts.
Sawn Iroko floors across the centreline with Laminated Iroko frames widely spaced throughout the boat. Large laminated ring frame in way of the main mast.
External lead ballast keel of 18cwt with bronze keel bolts.
Galvanised centreplate in an Iroko centreboard case operated by a hand winch under the bridge deck.
Decks and cockpit
12mm marine plywood decks screwed and glued to Douglas and Iroko deck beams with a Douglas Fir beam shelf. Decks finished with epoxy sheathing and non slip grey deck paint.
Varnished Iroko toe rail and rubbing strake.
Mainly bronze deck fittings including ventilation cowls and a dorade vent over the galley.

Coach roof with varnished Iroko coamings and bronze port lights. High radius on the coach roof deck to allow more headroom below. Coach roof deck of sheathed 1/8" marine plywood on 1/2" T&G boards screwed to Douglas and Cedar beams.
Varnished hand rails on the coach roof.
Companion hatch offset to port with spray hood over.
Gaff yawl rig on hollow spruce masts and gaff yards, solid spruce booms. Main mast is in a tabernacle, mizzen mounted solidly through the deck onto the stern post.
Galvanised steel wire standing rigging, new when launched, parcelled and served in the traditional way and set up to Dead eyes and lanyards with external galvanise chain plates.
Main mast has a pair of cap shrouds either side and a single forestay in Dynema to the bowsprit end. Running backstays are Dynema and tensioned with modern blocks and a jammer on a 4:1 purchase.
Headsail set on a Dyarchy system with bronze piston hanks, the original Wyckham Martin furling gear is included in the sale.
Mizzen mast has a gunter rig and is unstayed. Sheets to a bumpkin.
Running rigging all recently replaced with Marlow double braid which is very nice to use and looks correct on a boat of this style.
Original set of tan sails by Jeckells in serviceable but used condition.
New full suit of sails by SKB in cream Dacron. 370 sqft in total.
Drifter for light winds.
Pair of bronze non self tailing sheet winches on the cockpit coamings.
Yanmar L-70 air cooled single cylinder diesel mounted below the bridge deck to port with a hydraulic drive to a centreline feathering propeller.
Small 5 litre fuel tank built into the engine which gives 20Nm at cruising speed. 2 x 10l jerry cans carried aboard for refilling. Total range of 100 NM.
8 gallon stainless steel water tank with manual pump in the galley. Extra water containers carried in the cockpit lockers.
single 60ah 12 volt battery charged from the engine alternator. Engine can be easily started by hand if necessary.
3 berths including 2 saloon settee berths and a quarter berth starboard side.
Entrance hatch to port with washboards and a sliding hatch. Chart desk under the deck head to port with a comfortable seat doubling as a step in the hatch.
Sitting headroom with comfortable saloon settee berths and a centreline drop leaf varnished table. Plenty of lockers, shelf space and storage built in under the deck heads and below the berths.
Galley at the forward starboard end of the saloon.
Passageway to the port side going forward with large sail bins and storage lockers.
Taylors paraffin twin burner stove solid mounted athwartships with high fiddle rails.
