With Flag Blue topsides, new North sails, Hinckley varnished teak and off-white house, SIALIA is a classic yacht that has benefited from continuous upgrades by her two owners. Electric winches for in-boom and headstay furling and a fail-safe preventer system make her safe and easy to sail with only 2 aboard. Her navigation system and electronics provide convenience, safety and security for coastal cruising and blue water passages.
Elegant above and below, SIALIA attracts “beautiful boat” accolades every day on the water.
Hinckley builds beautiful, strong, seaworthy boats, and Sialia is one of Henry’s best.
Hinckley Yachts in Southwest Harbor, Maine, built Sou’wester 52 hull #16, launched in 2001 as Bequia.
She was purchased in 2011 and became Sialia. In the Fall Sialia was sailed to the Chesapeake and joined the 2011 Caribbean 1500 to BVI. She was based for the next three seasons at Proper Yachts in Great Cruz Bay, St. John, USVI under the care of Stu Brown, a long-time Hinckley owner and yacht manager. In 2014 she moved to Falmouth Harbour, Antigua for three seasons.
In May, 2017 Sialia was shipped from the Caribbean to Newport and delivered to Maine for a refit. In the spring of 2017 and the winter of 2018 work was supervised by John Pratt (John now back at Hinckley SW Harbor) at Atlantic Boat Company in Brooklin, Maine, and Dan Simmons and Scott Smith at Hinckley Yachts in Southwest Harbor, Maine. New North Sails UltraX NorLam 450 mainsail and jib were delivered in May, 2018.
In the summer of 2018 Sialia was sailed in Maine waters, and spent the winter in indoor heated storage at Hinckley in Southwest Harbor. There was more Maine cruising in 2019, and she is now back at Hinckley.
