"Finally, from America--from Maine, in particular--came the one boat the judges liked the most, the Sabre 386, the Cruising World Domestic Boat of the Year... Designer Jim Taylor successfully translated vision into appearance, detail, and performance. "Sabre made a boat with slightly smaller volume, which almost always results in a better sailing boat," said Bill." Cruising World 2005 Boat of the Year Announcement

"The Sabre Design Team and Jim Taylor Yacht Design have again joined forces to create a new Sabre sailing yacht. Design work began in early 2003 and the exciting new Sabre 386 will be presented to the public in January 2004. As her design evolved, the desire for luxurious accommodations, blended with great performance characteristics, rose to the top of the list of priorities. Her performance is assured by the pedigree of her designers whose successes are already well known. And as to her luxurious accommodations, Sabre's reputation for building high quality sailing yachts since 1970 should assure any sailor of the quality and integrity of her build." ~ Sabre Yachts
"The emphasis on an easily driven hull allows you to be sailing when others have started motoring. While any sailing yacht can sail downwind in a blow, only an efficient design with an easily driven hull shape and tall rig can be fun to sail when the winds go light. A pleasant evening sailing with friends is a rare moment to be cherished for years to come." ~ Sabre 386 Brochure
"Blue Roses offers outstanding sailing performance and a high level of cruising comfort along with terrific livability at anchor or dockside. The 386 is a dream underway, responsive and well balanced. Her flag blue hull is a head turner, and her layout is smart, with an athwart ships queen berth aft, island berth forward, aft facing navigation station, spacious head with dedicated shower stall, and roomy galley and salon for family dining." ~ Current Owner
This 2004 Sabre 386 was purchased new by her original owner in October, 2005, and was commissioned enough at that time for a mini survey. The original owner used his old boat for the 2006 season while in the process of selling it, leaving the new Sabre 386 on the hard at Brewer Dauntless Shipyard in Connecticut. Having sold his old boat in 2006, the original owner then fully commissioned the Sabre 386 for the 2007 season. The Sabre 386 was primarily day sailed with a few overnight trips for the 2007-2010 seasons. During this time all commissioning, winterization, storage and maintenance work was done by Brewer Dauntless Shipyard.
The current owner purchased the Sabre 386 in 2011 and brought her back to Maine. The boat has been enjoyed and kept to a very high standard, with indoor winter storage, and proactive maintenance. Storage, commissioning, decommissioning, and rigging completed yearly by Journey’s End Marina.
"Deck hardware is of the highest quality and is the finest in this class of sailing yacht. Her stainless steel stem head fitting, investment cast stainless steel chocks, stainless cowl vents, stainless opening ports and high polished aluminum hatches are but a few examples of the quality of the materials you will find aboard the Sabre 386. ~ Sabre 386 Brochure

"In the aft cabin, the berth is oriented athwartships to provide a large 60″ x 80″ sleeping accommodation below the cockpit. A large deck hatch over the head of the berth opens up the space overhead. A cedar lined hanging locker and vanity provide ample spaces for your personal gear." ~ Sabre 386 Brochure
"The Sabre 386 galley is a sea chef’s delight. A stainless steel three burner stove with oven is surrounded by many lockers and drawers that will hold all the stores required for a long voyage. The microwave oven is standard as are the DC refrigerator, front access door for the refrigerator and the galley counter extension. A convenient and elegant laminated fiddle surrounds the countertop and a strong safety bar is provided at the stove for cooking in rough seas." ~ Sabre 386 Brochure
"The salon furniture of the Sabre 386 is crafted in American Cherry and finished with a solvent based varnish for durability and depth. The varnish is then hand-rubbed to a smooth satin finish. Sabre’s fold-up table allows dining space to evolve into living space unlike boats with fixed pedestal tables. Louvered locker doors provide good ventilation to storage spaces and overhead hatches, stainless steel opening ports and fixed ports allow plenty of light and air to fill this luxurious space. Massive stainless steel chainplates bolted to solid fiberglass bulkheads which are overlaid with cherry veneer. This construction detail will ensure long and reliable service to your Sabre 386." ~ Sabre 386 Brochure
"The forward stateroom is a popular choice for many owners. We lowered this large pedestal berth and brought it aft in the hull to allow more “foot space” at the forward end and to provide easy access into and out of the berth. The berth top is low: just 25″ off the cabin sole. Four large drawers are provided under the berth and more storage space is located in the vanity to port. The sink and vanity mirror are standard in this cabin, as is a large cedar lined hanging locker to starboard." ~ Sabre 386 Brochure
"The navigation table is aft facing allowing for visual contact from the helm to the navigation station. There is ample space provided here for all the electronic equipment one would wish to install. The navigator’s seat back folds away to become part of the berth back when not in use and so as to allow the starboard settee to be used as a sea berth." Sabre 386 Brochure
"The fiberglass head unit with separate stall shower is spacious and functional. The easy to clean fiberglass surface, a solid surface material countertop, a soap dispenser and fresh water MSD, all add to the comfort and convenience of this space. A standard macerator pump is also provided." ~ Sabre 386 Brochure
