A 10M sports cat designed by Bakewell-White for coastal offshore racing. She is a fully NZ category 3 compliant racing catamaran with navigation lights, 4 small bunks. Originally called NINJA, the boat was built in NZ in 2012 by three very experienced yachtsmen; Rodney Kennan (Evolution Sails),Richard Bearda (Rigger and composite mast maker) and Pete Geary (Head boat builder at Cookson Boats NZ for the last 20 years, then working at Hall Spars). Since the summer of 2014 Ninja had been in Palma de Mallorca fun sailing in the Bay of Palma. Spring/Summer 2017 the boat was used as a training boat for the Spanish young Red Bull Americas Cup before sailing in Bermuda. It was then sold in 2018 to an owner in Thailand. It most recently competed in the 2019 Phuket Multihull Solutions Regatta and Panwa Raceweek Regatta (taking line honours in most races and placing 3rd overall on handicap).
She is quite a “weapon” especially in light wind. She only needs 8 kts of wind to be fully powered up and reach speed of more than 15kts of boat speed. Based in Phuket Thailand, dry stored. Boat can easily be shipped in a standard 40 container.
The boat comes with the following inventory (over USD80k spent in last 12 months). The most recent upgrades include:
• Replacing the original steering system with a complete carbon set up of transom-based rudders
with T Foil rudders built by Halls in NZ. These have also had an adjustable raking system added
built by Allyachtspars in Australia.
• All halyards and lines replaced in 2019.
• New Main and Forward Dyneema nets (Barracoutta Sails)
• New racing main (Doyle Stratis) and Carbon Light skin #1 Jib.
