"Spirit of Catherine" - 2016 Lagoon 42 Owner's Version with Premium Package Hull #12
This is a well-known cruising catamaran designed by not one but a team of international naval architechs and designers. - VPLP. The current owner purchased new and picked her up from the factory. After a shake down cruise, they sailed her around the world! The Lagoon 42 was voted "Boat of the Year" by Cruising World and "Best Multihull Cruising Boat" in 2017. A solid endorsement for a well-built catamaran.
A perfect size for a live-aboard, comfortable, and easy to sail. Boarding the boat is a breeze with wide sugar scoops and side access. With plenty of head room, the open, spacious cockpit doesn’t make you feel boxed in. The owner commissioned a custom-made storage area to store the dive compressor with plenty of room left for extra items. The helm is a semi-raised location with access to the coach roof. Extra hand-holds were added on the cabin top for safety under way. The hard Bimini is great for protection from the elements as well as safe, easy access to the mainsail and solar panels. This could also be converted to a great area for sun bathing.
One of the first things you notice about this boat is that the mast is located further aft and the boom is a little shorter. This helps reduce pitching and results in smoother sailing. The gull-wing designed bridge deck also helps to reduce slapping for a quieter ride when underway in lumpy seas. The anchor rides along a passarel which is handy when deployed or raised. Tinted windows keep things cool and private inside.
Step through the tri-folding doors into the galley & saloon living space. The dedicate U-shaped galley is a chef's dream! Prep space, storage space, serving space - it is all right there! The front-loading fridge and top loading freezer are located port side to keep the galley free. But the panoramic views are most definitely the highlight of this spot! The compression post in the saloon can seem imposing but you will adapt.
Retire to the tranquility of the owner's cabin with privacy door. The island style queen size bed makes it easy to maneuver around or about. Desk space amidships is a great remote work space. Storage, storage, storage along the way to the massive master bathroom. You never feel closed in like so many other boat's of this same size.
Starboard are two cabins with ensuite head. The forward cabin functions as a workspace or guest cabin - your choice. The aft cabin is a little more spacious that the forward cabin with a separate shower.
This boat is World ARC compliant with all the needed extras and safety gear to literally take you around the world! Are you ready? Spirit of Catherine is ready!

A sleek, modern design.
This new member of the Lagoon family has style and a strong personality.
While keeping a family resemblance and retaining the main features of the latest generation of Lagoons, it shows us a new path: unhurried evolution, a new "organic" approach, in search of harmony between living space and man.
An elegant silhouette, flowing curves which, by virtue of a noticeable acceleration of the lines in the bows and in the new coachroof design, emphasise the powerful and dynamic nature of this new model… A VPLP design naturally, a guarantee of performance under sail!
An ingenious deck layout: The mast moved further aft and the self-tacking jib, a guarantee of performance under sail and ease of handling, provide the ability to bring all operations together in one place.
An ergonomic helming station at the coachroof bulkhead, offering many advantages:
direct communication between the cockpit and saloon,
improved circulation, forward and aft of the helming station,
direct access to the coachroof for easier access to the boom,
a composite bimini with a sliding panel to ensure a good view of the sails,
a closure panel for helming station safety when under way.
A cosy cockpit, with smooth, elegant curves:
a single level from the aft platform to the saloon: a structural "revolution",
entirely new ergonomics that ensure excellent use of space and ease of circulation on board,
a large glazed door that occupies the entire width of the coachroof, and provides access to the unparalleled internal volumes.
The suspended steps at the transom provide a whole new perception of the boat: a continuous, wide and inviting platform, worthy of a large vessel.
