34' Rich Downeast Flybridge Cruiser For Sale
This boat was built by Robert (Chummy) Rich Jr. of the Bass Harbor Boat Shop, Maine for his own use. He has been building boats for many years, starting out in his father's shop, and has spent the past few years building this one with his brother, Walter. She is a traditional Downeast boat with modern amenities, berths for 4, full galley, and an enclosed head with separate shower. Her layout is open and bright with many opening windows, hatches, and overhead lights throughout. She runs quietly with a nice steady ride going through the water. This boat was built by Chummy Rich over 2-3 years. Cedar planking over oak frames and backbone. Painted fir cockpit sole and glass over marine plywood decks, cabin and shelter tops. The only exterior varnish is the aft door into the salon and the flybridge ladder treads. The flybridge helm area offers good seating and excellent views. Custom stainless steel sheathing on stern post and skeg to access cutlass bearing and rudder post.
2017 Cummins 6-cyl. 380 HP diesel, FWC, Heat exchanger. 2:1 gear. 2-lever engine controls. 1 3/4" SS shaft swinging a 4-blade bronze propeller. SS rudder. 576 hours.

Aft of rope locker is a double vee berth with lockers below, cabintop hatch above. Painted pine ceiling outboard. Next aft to starboard is enclosed head with separate shower. SS sink w/pressure hot & cold water, Formica counter, lockers below. Marine toilet with Y valve, macerator pump, and holding tank. To port is galley area with Formica counter, SS double sink with pressure hot & cold water, 4-burner propane stove, Dometic under-counter refrigerator w/freezer. Entire cabin is varnished cherry trim with white ceiling and bulkheads. Gray carpet over plywood sole, 6 sliding ports, 6'1" headroom. A very open and light area.
Up into wheelhouse, the helm is to starboard with custom cushioned bench seating for 2. Destroyer SS wheel, 2-lever engine controls. Center windshield window opens, electric wiper for starboard window. Aft of helm is a small settee and hanging locker. To port is bench seat for two at open cabin bulkhead, and next aft is raised Formica dinette that converts to a double berth. Six overhead halogen lights, the two forward convert to red for night driving. Gray carpet over plywood sole. Windows surround the wheelhouse for excellent visibility all around.
Through center door is a spacious 7 1/2' L x 9' W cockpit with 11" side decks, 9" stern deck with opening in transom to custom painted fir swim platform. The exterior door to salon and treads of ladder are the only exterior varnish. SS ladder with wood treads to flybridge with center helm, port and starboard seating. Terrific area for the views in the breeze and sun.
On foredeck anchor is on small SS pulpit with an electric windlass to lower and raise anchor, controls at helm. SS bow rails and deck hardware.
