The L series is Sea Ray ‘s most luxurious series. The 550 has many features found in Yachts in the bigger classes. It truly brings together comfort and performance with the most innovative styling in the world.
The Sea Ray 550 is the entry in the L Series, for Sea Ray. The L550 brings the luxury found in the larger models to a 56’3” boat that an experienced captain can handle easily, especially with the standard bow and stern thrusters. The bow seating area is a big highlight as is the power swim platform. The single-level design for the galley and salon. entertaining a crowd. is the manufacturer’s most luxurious line and the L550 is designed to show’s what Sea Ray Boats is capable of. The L550 has top-of-the line materials from upholstery to countertops and cabinetry. She also has a practical side with the galley, salon, and helm on the same level, creating an inviting environment for entertaining.
There’s a forward-facing lounge plus V-shaped aft-facing cushions that can seat five comfortably around the table. In a clever design, the backrests for the aft-facing seats fold into what would normally be the storage areas beneath the hinged bottom cushions. This provides dedicated and protected storage for the backrests. The seating also has a remote for the stereo plus USB plug-ins. An optional bow sunshade that is erected on a stainless-steel frame is available and stores under the forward facing seats.
As we walk into the salon from the aft cockpit through the three-section sliding Opacmare stainless-steel framed door that opens completely to create open passage to L550 salon area. Following a current popular design trend, Sea Ray put the galley, salon, and helm on the same level, which gives the area a large, spacious feel. This is further enhanced by the 6’5” (1.96 m) of overhead clearance.
Moving forward, the L550 Fly’s salon has a Toscana upholstered sofa-sized lounge to port and a shorter one to starboard directly abaft the lower helm station. Two ultra suede ottomans have storage inside and reversible tops to convert to tray tables. A fixed pedestal table is an optional alternative, but stick with the ottomans if the convertible sofa is selected that converts the seating into a queen sized berth. The 50” (1.27 m) flatscreen TV rises out of the countertop directly abaft the starboard-side salon lounge and there’s a Bose Sound Touch entertainment system.
Lower cabin area
Guest Quarters. The guest cabin to starboard has two individual berths that can slide together. These quarters have a hanging locker. In the bow, the VIP stateroom has a berth on the boat’s centerline with dual hanging lockers aft.
Master Stateroom. The centrally positioned stairs lead to the L550 Fly’s cabin level. The master stateroom is aft and it has the queen berth angled from the aft starboard corner into the center of the stateroom. This saves space, but the cabin and a companion could feel more of the vessel’s movement than if the berth was on the centerline. To port, there’s an L-shaped settee and the hanging locker is to starboard behind a glass door. Just above is the 40” (1.02 m) flatscreen TV. There’s additional space in drawers in the base of the berth. Move the pillows and there’s a hidden storage compartment that also has an optional safe. The boat comes standard with a washer/dryer combo unit and separate units are an available option.
The Heads. The master head has private entry via a sliding pocket door to its head at the entry to the quarters. The counter top is the same Silestone Quartz as in the galley and there’s a vessel sink, a walk-in shower with an acrylic door and teak decking and the cabinets are lit on the sides. The day head is similarly equipped, albeit with a smaller shower stall. There is private entry to the day head from the bow VIP stateroom.
