The vessel “Cadrew” is one of the few remaining examples of the fantail classic motor yachts constructed during the Pacific Northwest’s golden age of boat building. Cadrew is structured as a sole asset LLC.
This vessel is halfway through a restoration/remodel project. A new Caterpillar 3406 motor and new transmission have been installed and need only the controls connected to make it functional. Lots of original hardware and fittings are stored and ready for reinstalling.
The enclosed pilot house is forward, followed by the galley area on port and a hallway aft on starboard. There is an enclosed head area off of the hallway near the galley. The main salon is aft on the main deck. The main salon features eight large trolley type windows and 3 doors, all with 2”beveled glass and an open-able skylight set off the beautiful original teak walls, writing desk and buffet. (Indeed the entire house is designed with the teak walls, beveled glass windows and solid brass port windows.) While the aft salon door opens to the covered fantail deck.
There are two stairways to the lower deck area. The forward stairway leads to the the forward area at the bow which has been stripped out and needs to be finished. Aft of the forward compartment is the full width engine room which has ample area for new equipment, generators and perhaps a workshop.
From the main salon, the aft stairwell leads below to a center passageway, and space for port and starboard guest staterooms and a head in the center. A full aft stateroom has a queen bed base and roughed in cabinetry. There is an attached head area.
The fantail itself is covered by a wood canopy in which a sliding hatch access to the boat deck . Atop the deck house are 2 sets of boat davits for two tenders.
1. Completely removed the older piston driven original engine and replaced it with caterpillar 3406 marine diesel with a new transmission that is in perfect alignment. The only thing that needs to be done is finish installing the final engine controls to have the vessel to move under its own power. 95% complete.
2. Aft state room shown in the pictures is ready for plumbing final wiring, both heads need trim out (toilets, shower completion finished cross strip planking). 80% complete.
3. Galley is ready for cabinet install and appliances which I have (stove-oven, microwave oven combo from a Gulfstream 550 top of the line new in the box). I think the completion of the galley could be finished in 60 days. 80% complete.
4. Outside hull has five coats paint needs bump rails that were in bad shape and needed replacing. I think it needs another three coats to finish and bottom paint, but the bottom is solid. 80% complete.
5. The outside wheel house has five coats varnish-rails have been varnished both need final varnish which I believe would be another two coats for final details. 90% complete.
6. The Wheel house needs a sitting bench built and captains chair, plus marine avionics installed. 90% complete.
7. All the painting is compete in the wheel house and salon area. Varnish would be the last item to complete. 80% complete. 8. Water system needs to be added.
9. The forward state room needs to be completely finished out to specifications.
10. The outside decking is solid and needs final finish. 90% complete.
11. The teak is solid and the original brass is all stored and wrapped ready for install.
12. New electric panel was designed and built by common ground and will hold any load you need. I over engineered the panel for any situation. The boat has been 80% rewired with marine and coast guard specifications.
13. The fan tail will need several new added supports in excellent condition.
14. I would estimate the vessel with the right crew could complete the project in less than a year with a small crew or in 3+ months in a qualified shipyard.
15. I currently have invested about $325,000. I am willing to look at a reasonable offer. We are all just the care takers of history that will never be built again. The boat is set up in an LLC.
DRY DOCK SURVEY

The vessel was inspected while hauled. This inspection is limited to an external hull bottom pre launch inspection only. Vessel hull construction is wood plank over wood frame and above hull structures are wood.
The hull bottom was visually inspected and randomly hammer sounded. Hull bottom planking generally appears in “faired” condition with no noticeable “proud” planks. There were no significant audible differences when percussion sounding the hull bottom and no indications of deteriorated wood. External propulsion components appear in satisfactory condition.
It was reported by Mr. Jeff Broders of Gambol Industries that 172′ of planking was replaced during this haul out and 400′ of seams caulked. Fasteners were not removed during our inspection however; Mr. Broders stated that of planking removed; fastenings were in satisfactory to good condition.
The vessel was reportedly purchased by the Lunds approximately 20 years ago. Complete vessel history is unknown. This survey sets forth the condition of the vessel and components, as specifically stated only, at the time of inspection and represents the surveyor’s honest and unbiased opinion.
