The Vinette 43 is a rugged steel trawler built by T.D. Vinette (also known for ferries and commercial fishing boats), in Escanaba, MI. It is ideal for a cruising couple, featuring large, open living quarters, one stateroom, and one head. Dovekie is powered by fuel efficient, reliable twin Ford Lehman 120hp diesels, with upper and lower helm stations.
Dovekie's owners have decided it is time to downsize after many trips up & down the East Coast from Maine to Key West. She is ideal as a liveaboard, for snowbirds, or long-term cruisers who want a fuel-efficient cruising trawler.
The interior layout is ideal for a cruising couple with occasional guests. It features white paneling with wood trim for a bright, open layout.
As you enter the cabin from the cockpit:
There is a large saloon with a Settee to port and an L-shaped settee to starboard where the dining table drops down to form a double berth. Large cabin windows make this a bright airy space. Two cabin windows were replaced in 2022.
Just forward on the same level is the Galley to port and a walk through to starboard with access to the lower level.
Forward of the galley to port is the lower helm station with port & starboard access to the side decks. Just to starboard of the helm station are steps down to the head and forward stateroom.
The Head is down 3 steps to starboard, featuring a fresh water electric flush toilet connected to a 38 gallon holding tank, a full-sized shower stall and a vanity with a full-sized sink. To port of the head are several storage lockers.
Continuing forward is Master Stateroom featuring a centerline queen berth with shelving and storage port & starboard. An overhead hatch and two opening ports let in plenty of light and air.
The galley is located just aft of the lower helm station, within reach of the helm as well as guests in the salon.
