S&S has now designed boats for over 90 years from America's Cup racers to classic cruising sailboats. They are known as one of the best designers in the industry. Palmer Johnson is also well known for the quality of the build of their yachts. Just after this Custom 45' was launched, Palmer Johnson built an 86' aluminum boat for the King of Spain and it was the fastest of its kind for over a decade. This boat has been kept out of the water in heated winter storage for its lifetime. She has only been sailed in freshwater in the Great Lakes and her last owner poured over $200k into a complete refit. She won the Chicago to Mackinac race in 1979 and is still winning races 40 years later. She was upgraded with a carbon rig and has a suite of brand new racing sails, some only flown once. This boat has a great pedigree and is very light at 15,000lbs. She is a racer, but would also make a fast comfortable cruising boat. The interior is very open as the ribbed design of aluminum vessels negates major bulkhead construction. New Yanmar engine only has 350 hours and she is ready to sail away.
