MAGELLAN is a Formosa 41 Yankee Clipper, built by Ta-Chiao in Taiwan in 1979 to a William Garden design and she is in top condition.
Formosa / Ta Chiao yachts are much sought after and prized as long range cruising yachts for their bulletproof build and comfortable sea keeping qualities, with a hand laid, thick and very solid fibreglass hull and an encapsulated long keel.
Megellan is one of the finest Formosa 41's you will find. She was refitted by her current shipwright owner over two years (2015-2017) and repowered with a new Beta 50hp diesel still with just 150 hours.
Since then there have been many more recent additions and upgrades including new batteries and solar panels, refrigeration, stove, electronics and canvas and has only been very lightly used cruising up and down the Caribbean islands.
There is comfortable accomodation for five in the forward master cabin, a convertible saloon and the aft quarter berth. The U shaped galley contains a fridge, freezer, propane stove and sink and would put some much larger boats to shame.
The wooden spars, teak decks and varnish are all in superb condition.
The sails and rigging are also good, the boat is being sold with an extensive sail wardrobe and a hard rowing dinghy with 2hp outboard.
Purchased by the current owner here in Antigua 15 years ago after being sailed to the Caribbean ten years previously.
The interior joinery is all solid teak with some finely figured carvings. A real gentlemans yacht from an age when form never gave way to function and with a big hand to some of the most beautiful yachts of a previous era.
Lying in Antigua and ready to sail away, well sorted for long range cruising and living on the hook.
