The Spindrift 46’ is based on the classic Doug Peterson design that many sailors believe is the very best blue water cruising yacht ever made. This center cockpit performance cutter, was built from the Formosa 46 molds under the supervision of Australian Ron Hillier. Hillier’s involvement resulted in the Spindrift 46, earning a reputation of being far superior to the Formosa 46, and built to much higher yacht standards.

The Spindrift 46 was built at the Formosa Boat Building Company between 1980 and 1984 utilizing the Formosa 46 molds that were based on Doug Peterson’s design for the Kelly Peterson 46. Ron Hillier of Brisbane, Australia oversaw the building of these yachts that were imported as the Spindrift 46 in the United States and the Hillier/Peterson 46 in Australia. Formosa Yachts was a contract yard, and Hillier’s expertise was in selecting the very best contractors available to complete the vessel’s construction. This resulted in the Spindrift 46 earning a reputation of being far superior to the Formosa 46, and built to much higher yacht standards.

The current owner has lived aboard and cruised the vessel on the West Coast for several years, but now has a change of plans, making this rare vessel available to you. This two-stateroom, two-head, center cockpit performance cruiser has full electronics and lots of cruising equipment to begin your journey. The cockpit features a full canvas/isinglass enclosure that serves as a "deck salon". The companionway to the salon is forward and a companionway leading to the aft stateroom is aft. Upon entering the salon from the forward companionway, the U shaped galley is to port and the forward facing navigation station is to starboard. There is a large U shaped dinette forward on port and a centerline dining table. Opposite on starboard is a long settee and flat screen TV mounted on the bulkhead. Forward is the V berth stateroom with en-suite head and shower. There is also access to the large chain locker forward. The owners stateroom aft is accessed by either a passageway on starboard aft of the nav station or the separate companionway in the cockpit. The aft stateroom features an offset king berth and en-suite head and shower forward to port.
