The Dolores M. Jackson, a 2007 Murray Peterson Coastal II Gaff-Rigged Schooner, was launched new in 2007. She was built on Bainbridge Island, WA by the current owners. Their family has had many good adventures aboard but it is time to pass the torch to the next able owners to keep her legacy sailing into the future.
Murray Peterson was one of the most influential boat and yacht designers of the 20th century. The Coaster II was designed to race from San Francisco to Hawaii. They were also used as sub-spotters of Long Island during WWII. They have rounded Cape Horn.
A 2021 Survey is available!
There is a Dolores M. Jackson website with a treasure trove of information as well. Please email a request for that link!
The boat is currently hauled out in the Port Townsend Boat Yard surrounded by some of the best shipwrights and marine trades in the region and beyond. It is also a D-I-Y marina so owners can work on their own boats. She was just recently hauled out for some painting and is ready to launch.
The Side Decks are wide and easy to maneuver upon fore and aft. The cockpit is roomy with Wheel Steering, an Edson Steering Gear, Binnacle Compass and Auto Helm. There are two benches that have storage below and an aft locker that provides access to the steering system. On the bow is a Bronze Manual Windlass. Constructions specifics are listed under ‘Other Details’.
Down below there is a Settee immediately to starboard, Navigation Station and Storage to port, the Engine Room Box is centerline and the Galley is just forward to port. The Galley hosts a Double Stainless Steel sink with Hot and Cold Pressure Water and Sea Water Manual Pump, Ice Box, Diesel Stove and Storage. Going forward from the Galley takes you into the Salon with a Settee and Pilot’s Berth on port and starboard, Folding Table, Ladder to Scuttle Hatch, Wood Fire Stove, and Storage. Forward to port is a full Head with Shower and can be accessed from the Salon or the Forward Cabin. The Forward Cabin has a Pullman’s Berth to port, Seat Bench and Storage to starboard and Line and Sail Storage forward and to starboard. The Anchor Locker is all the way forward.
The Hull, Deck, House, Spars, Sails, Interior Systems etc. all appear to be in good condition (see survey for more details). The Dolores M. Jackson was built to the highest standards and is ready for her next owners to get her back underway!
