BELLA VELA is hull #25 and the last Swan 53 built before Nautor started building the Swan 54 on the same hull mold. The 54 is still being built today. BELLA VELA is exceptionally well equipped including carbon mast, carbon Park Ave type boom, bow thruster, generator, air conditioning, centerline queen bed in the master cabin and so much more. Single cockpit with all running rigging led aft to electric winches. Easy to short hand and cabins for up to 3 couples plus a crew/utility cabin. BELLA VELA is lightly used and in exceptional condition.
The hull is of single skin construction using glass-fiber reinforced isopolyester laminate with vinylester skin-coat. Multiaxial and unidirectional fibers in selected areas.
All stiffeners are unidirectional glass layups. Stringers and web frames are pre-made hollow sections that allow them to be used for ventilation purposes or as cable conduits. Engine bed is of glass-fiber with steel inserts.
Structural bulkheads are marine ply with glass fiber reinforcements. The bulkheads are laminated to the hull and the deck.
The stainless-steel main shroud chain plates are bonded to the hull.
The hull is grey gelcoat with white stripes. The transom is coated with polyurethane paint.
The hull bottom is treated with four layers of Gelsheild epoxy primer.
The keel is a lead casting with antimony and carefully finished to accurate design shape. Cast in keel bolts are of high tensile stainless steel.
The rudder is of foam filled glass-fiber with a tapered high tensile stainless-steel stock, supported by two self-aligning bearings. There is a weed deflector in front of the rudder.
The steering sheaves are provided with guards to prevent jamming of steering cables. There is an aluminum quadrant with end stops bolted to the rudder stock. The steering pedestals have roller bearings, brake and a crash bar.
The two carbon fiber wheels have 2.1 turns hard over to hard over.
There is an emergency tiller stowed in the lazarette.
The mast is stepped through the deck and onto a composite mast step. There are tie rods from the mast collar to the mast shoe. The mast shoe is aluminum.
All through-hulls below the waterline, except for the fridge, are of bronze and finished flush with the outside of the hull and located in an accessible position.
The lazarette is separated by a watertight bulkhead from the interior.
Part of the transom folds out manually to form a platform with fittings for a bathing ladder. The helmsman seat and the stern rail can be opened for convenient access.
Max Power, drop down type, bow thruster with control panel at the starboard helm station.
The deck is of sandwich construction, using multiaxial glass-fiber reinforced Isopolyester laminate, with low density closed cell foam core, and is bonded to the hull. High density core or solid laminate is under the deck fittings. Non-teaked deck surfaces have a white gelcoat finish. There is a blue stripe on the deck coaming.
The teak deck consists of 45 x 12mm quarter cut teak battens with 4mm grey caulking between the planks. The teak is vacuum bagged and bonded to the deck with epoxy adhesive. There are teak toe rails. There are teak footrests for the helmsman behind each wheel.
Lewmar V4, 24volt windlass with remote control. Chain gypsy for 10mm chain and remote control.
Stainless steel stem head fitting with 1 Delrin roller and an eye for the gennaker tack line block.

The headstay is recessed with an underdeck roller furling drum.
2 x Harken jib sheet tracks each with a Harken genoa car.
Harken blocks on deck for running rigging.
Spinlock clutches for headsail roller furling, jib car pullers, mainsheet, reef lines, halyards and other running rigging.
Stainless steel bow and stern rails.
3 x pair of pop-up mooring cleats, each pair located forward, midships and aft.
Stainless steel stanchions with a lifeline gate each side and at the transom.
Double 1 x 19 wire stainless steel lifelines.

Wichard folding pad eyes throughout the deck for various running rigging and safety functions.
Stainless steel deck fittings at each side gate for a boarding ladder to attach.

4 x fixed ports, 2 each side, in the coachroof coaming.

Removable cockpit table with leaves each side and padded stowage bag.
Dodger at forward end of cockpit with recess to stow canvas in down position.
2 x canvas stowage bags each side of companionway for running rigging tails.

Sleeps 7 in 4 separate sleeping cabins, plus 1 more in the main saloon for a total of 8. Interior is finished with a varnished, hand rubbed, satin finish over teak veneer, solid teak or a teak laminate. Other finishes include vinyl covered panels or white painted surfaces. Vinyl covered removable overhead panels. Teak veneer with koto stripes over closed cell foam floorboards.
Located in the bow with a double bunk on the center line. Optional spring mattress. Teak plywood leeboards. Two large drawers under the bunk. 2 x hanging lockers, 1 each side and aft with rods, hooks and automatic door lights. Vanity desk with mirror on the centerline aft. Bookshelf on the forward bulkhead.
MASTER HEAD and STALL SHOWER
Located on the starboard side and aft of the master cabin. Immediately aft of the head is a separate stall shower that may be accessed from the head or from the walkway to the forward cabins. White gelcoat fiberglass unit two half height in the head. Corian counter tops. Varnished teak above the fiberglass unit. Hot and cold pressure water at this sink and shower. Mirror. White gel coat fiberglass unit full height in the shower stall.
FORWARD MIDSHIP CABIN
Located aft of the master cabin and on the port side. There is a pullman double bunk outboard with Scandi-Flex battens. Lee cloth. 3 drawers under the bunk. Hanging locker forward with rod, hooks and automatic door light. Upper lockers outboard.
Located immediately aft of the midship cabin. “L” shaped settee to port surrounding a rectangular dining table. Stowage under the “L” settee and behind the back rest. Double seat at the table inboard and on the center line. Additional handrails have been placed throughout the main saloon.
Located in the starboard side of the main saloon. Two seats, 1 facing forward and 1 facing aft with a chart table in between. The chart table has a lifting lid and storage under. The navigation and communication electronics are located outboard and over the table.
Located aft of the navigation station on the starboard side. “L” shaped. Corian white counter tops. Stainless-steel sink with hot and cold pressure water faucet. Lockers and drawers under the sink countertop. Lockers with sliding doors outboard of the stove. Force 10, 3 burner gimbaled stove with oven and stainless steel guard. Front loading fridge, top loading fridge and top loading freezer. Fridge thermostats may be adjusted to be fridge or freezer. Waste container under the sink.
AFT STARBOARD CABIN
Located aft of the galley and accessed from the galley. Single bunk. Hanging locker forward and outboard. Storage lockers in board. Generator is located inboard.
AFT PORT CABIN
Located aft of the main saloon and on the port side. Double bunk with leeboard in the middle. Storage under the bunk. Hanging locker, with draws under, located forward and outboard. Hanging locker has a rod, hooks and automatic door light. Lockers above and outboard.
The ”day” head is located on the port side separating the main saloon and the aft port cabin. White gelcoat fiberglass unit two half height. Corian counter tops. Varnished teak above the fiberglass unit. Hot and cold pressure water at this sink and shower. Mirror.
The engine space is located under the cockpit. Access may be gained from under the companionway stairs or via access panels on the port and starboard side of the engine compartment.
The engine space is sound insulated.
