|Modell||72 Aleutian RP|
There are many boats in this size category that are described as “long distance cruising” yachts. Few really meet that standard, and even fewer meet the standard set by this Aleutian 72, CRONOS. In what can be described as one of the finest builds to ever come out of Grand Banks, CRONOS is a very special boat. The exceptional craftsmanship executed by Grand Banks is exceeded only by the unequaled level of custom details specified and supervised by the owners during the build. From the redundancy built into many of the mechanical systems to the extensive inventory of spare parts, CRONOS is better equipped than many yachts of a much larger size.
As impressive as the engineering and construction of CRONOS is, what really sets CRONOS apart from almost any other yacht in this category, is the level to which it has been maintained. From a rigorous scheduled systems-maintenance regimen to an extensive cosmetic detailing scheme, the upkeep on CRONOS would rival any Superyacht afloat.
If a properly designed, engineered, built and maintained long distance cruising yacht is your interest, you will not find a better opportunity.
This highly customized Aleutian 72 was engineered to the specifications of very experienced and knowledgeable owners who wanted large yacht luxury, systems and safety features with true long distance coastal cruising capabilities. As proof, CRONOS has regularly cruised from Newport to Palm Beach and Palm Beach to Saint Marteen, each leg uninterrupted by fuel stops.
Boarding CRONOS is accommodated from either port or starboard boarding doors/gates onto color accented non-skid painted side decks which lead aft to the teak decked covered aft deck. The aft deck features large fixed teak dining table, fixed FRP seating with storage and FRP cabinetry with shelves and storage, and FRP stairwell to the Flybridge. Aft, via port or starboard gates to the hull integrated FRP teak decked swim platform which features large yacht style removeable SS “staple” railings, custom built-in swim ladder and watertight door access to crew quarters and main machinery space.
Going forward from the aft deck, the side decks are generously sized for easy passage and safety is assured with proper height oversized oval SS hand rails. Several steps up leads to the Portuguese Bridge, a defining characteristic of the raised pilothouse cruiser. The Portuguese Bridge features copious amounts of storage for lines and canvas as well as built-in seating port and starboard forward with storage beneath. The foredeck features a dual anchor pulpit with large windlass and two companion deck lockers.
Returning to the covered aft deck, the entry to the grand salon is via double parallel Freeman doors equipped with compression gasketing. The edge reveal beige carpet (new) over the solid teak with holly border trim sole adds a level of functionality and elegance to the space. At the entry are port and starboard custom teak chest of drawer cabinets to serve as very convenient storage for those often used items. These and all of the important drawers on the main deck are equipped with aircraft grade sea keeping latches. The interior of the grand salon features hand crafted teak in a modern but elegant style. To port are two custom upholstered sitting chairs flanking the teak entertainment center with power lift up TV, storage and custom built-in cup holders. All the way forward to port is the aft facing dining L-settee, two dining chairs and fixed teak dining table on an oversized SS pedestal. The settee backs hide a set of large stowage shelves perfect for dining tableware. Forward of the dining settee is a beautiful hand-crafted bookcase and cabinet ensemble with large storage lockers. To starboard, an oversized upholstered leather settee with drawer storage below. Two large teak ottomans with storage compliment the long settee. Forward of the settee are dual bar cabinets as well as an icemaker behind a matching teak panel door. The AC circuit breaker panel is conveniently located on the aft side of the stairs to the flybridge. The custom valance above (port and starboard) hosts HVAC ducting, LED lighting and Bose speakers. On the overhead centerline is a well-founded teak and SS grab rail.
Three steps up to the bridge deck reveals a custom U-galley to port with additional counter and refrigeration to starboard. The galley hosts a Miele 4-burner cooktop, microwave oven and dishwasher, Alcor single bowl sink and Sub-Zero 36” refrigerator and freezer drawers, overhead drop-down storage, over counter cabinets, and custom SS stovetop guard with exhaust vent. Storage cabinets feature wire rack pull-out wire shelving and a large tip-out trash bin. The starboard work counter hosts two 24” Sub-Zero refrigerators drawers and two 24” Sub-Zero freezer drawers. Galley counters (and all counters throughout CRONOS) are single slab Platinum granite. Forward of the galley is an elevated upholstered bench seat with fixed fold-out table, ideal for casual dining, navigation or sight-seeing. All the way forward on this deck is the custom large-yacht helm area. The DC distribution panel is to port with the custom array of electronics and displays (3 x KEP 21”) that rival the helm area of yachts twice this size on centerline equipped with a double powered STIDD helmseat. (Please see listing specifications for full list of electronics). Access to the side decks from the bridge are via Manship sliding doors with compression gasketing and nearby teak and SS grab rails.
Step below via the wrap around staircase to starboard (storage built-in along the way) to the accommodation deck. Of special note are the “His and Her” heads with walk-in shower between. An exceptional detail both in terms of isolating noise from the rest of the cabin as well as luxurious convenience.
All the way forward is the VIP Guest Stateroom with en suite head and shower. A panel beneath the large island berth lifts on gas assisted cylinders to reveal ample storage in addition to the large drawers beneath the foot of the berth. There are two oversized hanging lockers.
The Guest Stateroom features twin berths, ample drawer storage, hanging locker and en suite full head.
All cabin sole hatches are without hardware and are suction cup removeable. All hanging lockers feature auto-on LED lighting.
From the bridge deck, the interior access stairwell to starboard is sealed by a SS and acrylic dogged down hatch. Port and starboard are built-in FRP L-settees with FRP cabinets port and starboard astern. To port is the icemaker and storage, to starboard are twin electric grills with heat shields on the underside of the FRP lids. Below are storage lockers with teak grates. To port near the helm is a forward seat with custom vented petrol storage. The flybridge helm area is on centerline with double sized STIDD helmseat, and duplicate electronics and controls (please see Electronics specifications for a complete list of lower helm and flybridge electronics).
All the way aft is the teak and SS cradle for the tender and electro-hydraulic crane. SS safety rails surround the circular stairwell access to the aft deck and the exposed portions of the flybridge.
The crew quarters are accessed via a watertight compression gasket door on the swim platform. The crew quarters features en suite head, microwave, sink, icemaker, refrigeration as well as the home for much of the large compliment of spares and ship's additional large capacity freezer.
Forward via a watertight compression gasketed door is the main mechanical space with surprisingly generous access to the ships mechanical systems.
