This Mussel Ridge was completed Fall of 2021, and is the one of nicest downeast style boats and really is a must see to appreciate every detail utilizing the most high tech mechanically gear one could she offers the ultimate outdoor living with a HUGE cockpit and an open air galley and salon area under the roof top.
Starting with a proven commercial hull design from one of Maine's premier lobster boat builders, the owner worked with Newport Yacht Builder's to develop a lobster yacht that was tailored to create to create boat that balances ease of handling of a day boat with ability to also do extended cruising. Newport Yacht Builder's expertise in fitting new interiors into existing hulls, developed through numerous large refit projects, was seen as a perfect fit for this project.
The Mussel Ridge 54’ hull and deck were built at Hutchinson Composite in Cushing Maine. Simultaneously, the yacht-finish interior was built in Newport, Rhode Island.
She is easily seen at Safe Harbors Newport Shipyard. We are 30 minutes from TF Green International Airport. Rhode Island is a tax free state for boat purchases.
The main engine is a single 1,550 hp diesel engine with V-drive transmission. Primary engine controls will be located at the helm. Secondary engine controls are located on the port side Navigators seat.

The fuel system piping allows any of the two fuel tanks to supply fuel to the main engine and generator and return to any tank. Each tank will have a dedicated fill on the side deck and vent on the topsides. The fuel filters and lines are sized for a max flow of 160 gph for the main engine.

Oil Change System
A dedicated oil change pump is plumbed to the main engine, transmission and generator for dirty oil extraction. The pump will have a flexible discharge line that will empty into portable 5 gallon buckets or suitable containers for waste oil storage.

The steering system is a power assisted hydraulic system with twin rams. The power steering pump is engine driven. The autopilot is an electrically activated hydraulic pump. Engine room air is provided by P/S louvers located inboard under side decks aft of side entrance doors. Louvers will be sized to provide adequate engine air without the need of supply fans. A single extraction fan will be mounted in the aft engine room bulkhead to vent hot air into the lazzerette which will then exist the through the laz ventilators.

Fresh Water System
The fresh water system consists of two integral FRP tanks, 1 pressure pump, 1 high pressure wash down pump, 1 accumulator tank, 1 20 gal water heater and a house top rain collection system. The head system will consist of a holding tanks, two electric heads, a deck pump out deck plate and a macerator overboard discharge pump. Each head will be plumbed to a Y-valve that leads to either the holding tank or directly overboard. Grey Water System
The sinks drain directly overboard to a thru hull located in the boot stripe. The forward shower and washer/dryer will drain directly to a 90 gal integral FRP grey tank and pumped overboard with a dedicated pump. The aft wet head shower in the pocket cabin will drain into a dedicated sump and pump.
